Where does my waste end up?
At Bain’s we use a Waste Tracking system which is a historic database of all waste collected, and a detailed list of where it was collected from. Our records allow us to at anytime produce a complete paper trail of all waste collected and track it from its initially location through to its disposal site, as well as the date, time, operator and even the individual trucks identification number.
This database is very valuable to our customers as it not only gives them the peace of mind that there waste is being disposed of correctly, but also allows them to get a full run down of past work when budgeting for the next year. Having this system in place is a very useful tool to us as it allows us to track and monitor every type of waste including production company waste, storm water drains, grease traps and septic tank waste. Our system is also a very valuable insurance policy for our customers as it makes us accountable for all the work we do.
Can my waste be tracked?
Your waste is recorded in a national database, from collection through to disposal, so at any time a full paper trail of your waste can be produced if required.
During disposal, who is responsible for my waste?
Many companies aren’t compliant with waste management requirements and as a result you as the ‘waste owner’ are liable for their malpractices. Potential fines you face for their negligence are as high as $35,000 so far and counting.
Where can I dispose of my waste?
Your Septic Tank waste has to be disposed in the area that you live in. Disposal companies can’t simply dispose of your waste where they want. All disposal companies must pass an internal audit with local councils in order to ensure the correct procedures and requirements are adhered to.
What happens if I dispose of my waste incorrectly?
Incorrect waste disposal is becoming a major issue and now carries high fines for negligence. You own your own waste. Even if the contractor takes it off your hands its still your responsibility to dispose of it correctly. We meet people all the time who have no idea if their home, farm or business complies. In the eyes of the council it is up to you to know that your waste its being disposed of in the right place and with the right methods. If you don’t you are opening yourself up to potential fines. The largest fine we know of to date is a massive $35,000 where a companies waste was running into and polluting a neighbouring waterway.

Eventually it will overflow out the top of the mushroom onto your lawn, or it will block up the drain between your house & Septic tank and you won’t be able to use your toilet. Your shower, bath and hand basins will overflow out your gully traps beside your housed and you risk damaging the soakage drain which will eventually result in messy overflows and most likely require the soakage drain to be replaced – this can cost you up to $20,000.
