Cowshed & 2 day Retentions Sumps

Do you know how much waste your SUMP’S BUILD UP WHEN YOU HOSE DOWN YOUR YARD?

Most dairy farms have either a two day retention sump or a smaller sump near their cowshed which both collects the run off and washing from the dairy shed and yard.

Most have pumps that transfer the waste water to a pond or spray irrigator. During the season, the build up of silt, sand and stones brought onto the yard normally by the cows feet builds up in the pump chamber.

To minimalise any damage to the pump and the build up and in some cases the complete blocking up of irrigator lines, more and more farmers are regularly emptying and cleaning out their chambers to remove the abrasive silt, sand and stones. These chambers may vary in size but are generally relative to the size of the farming operation and in most cases take Bains less than a couple of hours to clean out completely.
WHO ARE BAIN'S?
p_3_big.jpg After 25 years worth of family and company history the team refused to ‘roll over and die’ after a fire burnt down their entire premise in June 2006.

Bains was founded in 1950 when it operated as Adams Septic Tank Services. In 1983 Bains bought the business off the Adams. The Bains and Adams grandfathers fought together in World War 2. Bruce Bain, his wife Christine and cousin Donna Fleming and husband Brian own the business.
