"Cleaning a septic tank is something you normally don’t like to deal with and often ignore, but Bain’s have always been great at taking this hassle away.

They are always on time and are always prepared when they get here. In addition to this, they often leave the site so clean that I can’t tell they have even been to clean the tank.”

Sue Van der Poel, Te Awamutu

“We have a tank that is hard to get to, so they always use long hoses in order not to damage our lawn, and they always try to leave the property how
it was as much as possible.

Bain’s are a hard-as working team who can never do enough for you.”

Chris Venn, Te Awamutu

Septic Tank Cleaning

How was your SEPTIC TANK last cleaned?

Its a sh*tty job, but someone has to do it!

An overflowing septic tank looks and smells disgusting – especially when the weather warms up. Let the team at Bains do it for you and do it right. Incorrect disposal of septic tank waste carries large fines and has a number of compliance barriers to overcome.

Ever wondered what lies beneath your lawn?

INSIDE YOUR SEPTIC TANK

Key Considersations when cleaning a SEPTIC TANK
  1. Many companies take the fast approach to cleaning by simply putting their hoses down the ‘mushroom’ and sucking out only the waste fluid, leaving the bulk of the waste behind.

  2. If you don’t clean your tank regularly, you risk damaging the soakage drain which will eventually result in messy overflows and most likely require the soakage drain to be replaced.

  3. A complete septic tank clean requires the tank to be opened right up in order to ensure all the waste is removed, meaning you don’t have to empty the tank as often.

  4. Over time a solid waste crust builds up and turns hard in the top of the tank.
As well as this, sludge and sediment builds up in the bottom. If you only put the hose down the ‘mushroom’ most of the crust and sediment waste is left behind.

6 things you may not know about your
SEPTIC TANK!

1. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own waste - disposal companies only transport it for you!

Many companies aren’t compliant with waste management requirements and as a result you as the ‘waste owner’ are liable for their malpractice. Potential fines you face for their negligence are as high as $35,000 so far and counting.

2. Some waste has to be disposed in the area you live in or go to special facilities!

Disposal companies can’t simply disposal of waste where they want. All disposal companies must pass an internal audit with local councils in order to ensure the correct procedures and requirements are adhered to.

3) Your waste can be tracked using a waste tracking system.

Your waste is recorded in a national database, from collection through
to disposal, so at any time a full paper trail of your waste can be produced if required.

4. Simply sticking a hose down the ‘mushroom’ doesn’t properly clean your Septic Tank!

Many companies take the fast approach to cleaning by simply putting their hoses down the ‘mushroom’ and sucking out only the waste fluid, leaving the bulk of the waste behind.

5. Your lawn has to be dug up to find the lid in order to properly clean your Septic Tank!

As explained above and in the diagram below simply sticking a hose down the ‘mushroom’ doesn’t correctly clean your tank. In order to confidently say a tank is cleaned the lawn must be dug up to find the Septic Tank lid. Without doing this solid waste is left behind meaning your tank with need to be emptied more often or will overflow. Bain’s take extreme pride in their workmanship and insist on leaving your property how they found it.

6. Cleaning your Septic Tank regularly and correctly will save your money in the long-run!

We recommend that you clean your Septic Tank once every 3 to 5 years. If you wait too long you risk damaging the soakage drain which will eventually result in messy overflows and most likely require the soakage drain to be replaced – this can cost you up to $20,000.
